Our Treatment Methods Include:

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a gentle whole-body approach designed to lengthen the connective tissue of your body, called fascia. Fascia is a three-dimensional web-like structure that surrounds and connects every part of your body down to the cellular level. Since fascia connects every cell to all other cells throughout your body, an injury in one part of your body may lead to pain or dysfunction in a completely different area. This treatment releases the restrictions in your fascial system and can relieve a number of chronic symptoms.

CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy is a light-touch manual therapy that addresses restrictions in the skull, spinal cord and surrounding tissue. We use these delicate techniques to detect potential restrictions and imbalances and release restricted areas to relieve unnecessary pressure on the brain, spinal cord and all other regions of your body.

CranioSacral Therapy enhances your body’s natural healing processes and has been effective for a wide range of health challenges associated with pain and dysfunction. It is an effective form of treatment for a wide range of illnesses, helping to create the optimal conditions for health.

Scar Release Techniques

After a traumatic or surgical scar is created, adhesions are formed which pull on your vital structures. This can greatly limit movement and elicit pain in various parts of your body. This treatment improves function in all of your body systems, increases range of motion, decreases pain and often reduces the physical properties of the scar itself. The treatment of your old scars can still create a positive therapeutic response in your body and is extremely important and often overlooked.

TMJ Therapy

Kim Lawler-Coyle, PT, DPT has specialized in TMJ Therapy since 1984. Problems with the temporomandibular joint (or jaw joint) causes more than just jaw pain. It results in numerous interrelated conditions including headaches, ear and sinus problems, dizziness, as well as facial, neck or shoulder pain. Kim incorporates our entire experienced team in the treatment plan to maximize the benefits received by you. Kim’s knowledge and specialized experience in the field of TMJ have resulted in dozens of Orange County Dentists and Physicians trusting Focus On Health with the treatment of their patients.

The Feldenkrais Method®

The Feldenkrais Method® utilizes two primary techniques: Functional Integration, a gentle, hands-on approach, and Awareness Through Movement, which uses verbal direction, movement and imagery. These are two variations to improve a person’s posture, body awareness, mobility, balance, coordination and function in everyday living.

We offer Awareness Through Movement classes on Tuesday’s from 6:00-7:00 pm. The cost for the Class is $15. Call for more details.

Visceral Manipulation

Every person can benefit from Visceral Manipulation (organ-specific myofascial mobilization), which encourages a vibrant, dynamic organ system that has a positive effect on the entire body. Focus On Health may use Visceral Manipulation in your treatment program to release restrictions in your body’s organs that can originate from trauma, illness, surgery, poor diet or emotional stress. Successful treatment can improve digestion, reduce soft tissue pain, enhance movement, vitality and well-being.

Neural and Vascular Manipulation

Neural and Vascular Manipulation identifies and releases local nerve and vascular restrictions while at the same time examines the effect that these local fixations have on the rest of the body.  The nerves and blood vessels function at their maximum capability when they are able to move freely within their surrounding structures.  By accessing these relationships, these gentle treatment methods can resolve the more comprehensive dysfunctional patterns and symptoms throughout the body.

Brain Specific Soft Tissue Treatment

Going beyond the CranioSacral System, we can begin to identify specific lesions within the brain and spinal cord.  Once we have identified the primary tissue restrictions within the brain and spinal cord, we can use subtle soft tissue methods to effect positive changes to these micro-structures.   Patients suffering with symptoms associated with closed head injury, whiplash, headaches, dyslexia, cerebral palsy, cognitive behavioral dysfunctions, learning disabilities, Parkinson’s can be helped by this method.

Global Joint Treatment (GJT)

Global Joint Treatment (GJT) incorporates soft tissue mobilization of all aspects of a specific joint, including the nerve, artery, bone, capsule and ligaments.  This method looks at the direct and indirect relationships between the bones of the body and all other related soft tissue.

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (LDT) is a very gentle hands-on technique designed to activate and cleanse our immune system. Our team can detect the specific rhythm, direction, depth and quality of the lymphatic flow with the light touch of their hands and fingers. LDT many benefits include the reduction of swelling, enhanced body detoxification, tissue regeneration and relief of chronic pain.

Therapeutic Exercise

Therapeutic Exercise helps to increase your range of motion through stretching and mobility exercise. Our team will often use one-on-one therapeutic exercise as the foundation for rehabilitation, muscle strengthening, postural stabilization, endurance training and conditioning programs. It is vital to improve muscles that may have weakened after trauma, illness, surgical procedures or from general lack of exercise. This program also plays a role to help you maintain your strength as you age and prevent possible future injury. Focus On Health’s experienced staff are able to correctly assess what elements of therapeutic exercise are best for your rehabilitation and treatment plan.

Neuromuscular Activation (NEURAC), often times referred to as REDCORD has been included here for simplicity. The NEURAC or REDCORD method is a treatment approach that aims to restore functional and pain-free movement patterns through high levels of neuromuscular stimulation. The NEURAC or REDCORD treatment focuses on muscle interaction and the cause of the problems, not just the symptoms. We use the NEURAC or REDCORD method extensively in the Clinic in conjunction with other methods.
