About Focus On Health Physical Therapy
A physical therapy practice built around individualized care, advanced hands-on treatment, and more than four decades of clinical experience.
Focus On Health has served patients in Orange County from Newport Beach since 1988. Rather than relying on a standardized treatment routine, our approach combines advanced manual therapy, integrative physical therapy, rehabilitation, and a broad clinical perspective.
Some patients come to us from nearby. At the same time, others travel farther because they are looking for a strongly hands-on approach, more time during treatment visits, or another physical therapy perspective.

Nearly Four Decades of Focus On Health in Orange County
Focus On Health began serving Orange County in 1988. From the beginning, hands-on treatment and individualized physical therapy were important parts of the practice.
In addition, continued postgraduate education expanded the range of manual therapy, movement-based, rehabilitation, and conventional physical therapy strategies available during care.
As a result, Focus On Health developed more options for addressing different physical findings, movement limitations, functional problems, and rehabilitation goals. Instead of building the practice around more techniques, those additional tools allow treatment to be adapted when different approaches are appropriate.
Ultimately, the goal is not to make every patient fit the same approach. The approach should be able to change with the patient.
Advanced Manual Therapy Is Central—But It Is Not the Whole Story
Focus On Health is strongly hands-on. At the same time, integrative physical therapy means more than manual treatment alone. Therefore, physical findings are considered together with movement, strength, mobility, neuromuscular function, functional limitations, previous injuries or surgeries, and the activities the patient wants to return to.
Hands-On Treatment
For example, skilled palpation, manual assessment, soft-tissue and joint techniques, scar treatment, neural mobility work, and specialized manual approaches can provide both treatment options and additional physical information.
Movement-Based Strategies
In addition, movement retraining, neuromuscular rehabilitation, the Feldenkrais Method®, Redcord Therapy / NEURAC, and other movement-based strategies provide additional ways to address physical function when appropriate.
Exercise & Rehabilitation
Meanwhile, therapeutic exercise, strengthening, mobility work, balance, coordination, education, and other established physical therapy approaches remain important parts of individualized rehabilitation.
Connecting
the Dots
Sometimes the place that hurts is only one part of the physical picture. For example, a previous surgery, scar, mobility restriction, soft-tissue finding, joint limitation, neural mobility issue, weakness, or movement pattern may also deserve consideration when it is relevant to physical function.
However, a broader perspective does not mean treating everything. Instead, it means having enough clinical experience and enough treatment options to decide which physical findings may matter and which do not appear important to the current problem.
More Than Four Decades of Clinical Experience
Kim’s professional background includes more than four decades of clinical practice, extensive postgraduate education, advanced manual therapy training, movement-based study, teaching, and continued professional learning.
In addition, that experience has helped shape a physical therapy practice with a broad range of clinical tools while keeping treatment grounded in physical findings, movement, rehabilitation, and function.
Even so, experience does not mean doing the same thing for decades. It means having decades of clinical knowledge to draw upon while continuing to learn.
